Scholarship questions

RISE is open to ambitious chess players aged 5 to 18 who are serious about improving their game. A FIDE rating is helpful but not mandatory, as players can also be assessed based on their current playing strength, potential and commitment.

The scholarship is awarded on merit. The assessment considers factors such as the player's current level, improvement potential, performance, commitment and readiness to follow a structured training programme. Eligible players may receive scholarships of up to 90%.

No. The RISE scholarship application and initial assessment are free. There is also no obligation to enrol after applying.

RISE scholarships are merit-based. The focus is on the player's chess ability, potential for improvement and commitment to training.

RISE students receive training and guidance from experienced chess professionals, including International Masters (IMs) and Grandmasters (GMs) associated with the programme.

RISE batches are intentionally kept small, with approximately 6-8 students per batch. This allows for better interaction, more focused guidance and meaningful feedback.

After the assessment process is completed, eligible applicants are generally informed about the next steps and scholarship offer within the communicated review period.
