We know you have questions. Here are the ones parents ask us most.
Are Kingdom of Chess coaches FIDE-certified?
Yes. Every coach on our roster holds a FIDE title or is a FIDE-certified trainer or arbiter. Our team includes Grandmasters, International Masters, Woman Grandmasters, Woman International Masters, FIDE Masters, Arena Grandmasters, FIDE Trainers, and a FIDE Arbiter. FIDE is the world governing body of chess, so these titles reflect tournament performance verified at the international level.
How are coaches assigned to students?
After your free trial class, our academic team recommends a coach based on your child’s current level (Pawn, Knight, Rook, or King), learning pace, age, preferred language, and schedule. Parents can request a specific coach at any time, and most families are matched with their permanent coach within the first week of joining.
Can I request a specific coach for my child?
Yes, absolutely. If you read a bio and feel a particular coach is the right fit for your child, let our academic team know and we will do our best to schedule your child with them. Availability depends on the coach’s current schedule, but we always try to honour requests.
What languages do Kingdom of Chess coaches teach in?
Our coaches teach in English, Hindi, and a few other Indian languages. During the free trial, let us know your child’s language preference and we will match you with a coach who can teach comfortably in that language.
What is the difference between a GM, IM, WGM, and FM?
Grandmaster (GM) is the highest FIDE title, earned by reaching a rating of 2500 and scoring three GM norms at strong tournaments. International Master (IM) requires 2400 and three IM norms. Woman Grandmaster (WGM) and Woman International Master (WIM) are awarded to female players under slightly different thresholds. FIDE Master (FM) is awarded at 2300. Each title reflects serious international tournament success, so every coach on this page is an accomplished competitive player.
How experienced are Kingdom of Chess coaches at teaching children?
Every coach on our team has experience teaching children aged 4 to 15, including complete beginners. Some, like AGM Chandrajeet Rajawat, have over ten years of coaching experience. Others too have many years of experience. Our academic team matches coach style to student needs.
Do coaches follow a structured curriculum?
Yes. Every class follows the Kingdom of Chess Pawn-to-King curriculum, which moves a student through four structured levels: Pawn for beginners, Knight for intermediate, Rook for advanced, and King for elite players. Coaches adapt their teaching style, but the underlying curriculum and progression are consistent across the academy, so every child receives the same quality of chess education.
